Five Innovative Apps Built on IBM's Bluemix PaaS

Mobile, cloud, big data, collaboration and intelligent connected systems are the top technology trends impacting organizations right now. These technologies are driving demand for newer, faster and more frequent approaches to software delivery. DevOps is the key to helping businesses tap into these technologies for growth, to quickly seize market opportunities and to reduce the time to deliver on customer feedback. With IBM Bluemix, developers are doing just that. This cloud-based platform offers a robust set of IBM, open-source and third-party applications, application programming interfaces (APIs) and services on a pay-as-you-use basis. By eliminating complexity, Bluemix cuts application development and deployment times from months to days and hours. IBM announced the general availability of Bluemix in July, with new services, clients and systems integrators using it to rapidly develop applications in the cloud. Bluemix, available on the IBM Cloud Marketplace, includes more than 50 services for building secure, cloud-based business applications. The technology saw rapid adoption even during its open beta period, which began in February when IBM delivered Bluemix as a preview at its Pulse 2014 conference. This eWEEK slide show looks at five innovative solutions built using IBM's Bluemix platform as a service (PaaS).
