The ASP Industry Consortium, a group of 700 companies “formed to promote the application service provider industry” recently announced the formation of an End User Council. The group will “provide leadership and direction on how Consortium members can better meet the needs of their customers.”
Nobody asked us, but (with tongue in cheek) we propose the new councils list of suggestions should begin with something along the lines of: Stay in business!
That could be followed up with rule No. 2: If you cannot stay in business, be decent about it. Do what HotOffice did, and tell your customers to sign on with your biggest competitor.
While were at it, how about a third rule of thumb: Dont change your acronym unless you really are changing your business model.
