Lucent Technologies and Infoblox joined forces last week to provide highly scalable IP address management technology for midsize to large enterprises. The deal combines Infobloxs network appliance and management technology with Lucents VitalQIP IP address management software.
Infoblox agreed to resell the combined technology through its channel partners worldwide. The joint technology includes support for DNS (Domain Name System) and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). With Infobloxs appliance, enterprises can distribute DNS and DHCP services to multiple locations without having to deploy software on a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems, which can take a lot of time and resources.
