[Guest columnist and Association for Competitive Technology President] Jonathan Zucks claim that the “[Free Software Foundation] and its allies nearly scuttled the standards process for e-mail authentication” in refusing to support a registration requirement fails to point out that “those who developed the products” (care to bet how many were commercial software companies?) were equally ready to scuttle the authentication standard by insisting that anyone using it be required to register (Free Spectrum, “Software: Ideology vs. Progress,” July 18).
