On Monday, Intel said it would work to improve the performance and interoperability of its Centrino platform with Ciscos Linksys line of wireless access points.
Both Intel and Cisco will work together to develop a set of interoperability standards that goes above and beyond those set by the WiFi Alliance, the wireless industrys marketing group. In early tests, the two companies optimizations were able to improve both the range and data rates between a Centrino-enabled notebook and a Linksys access point.
Frys Electronics, a West Coast electronics retailer began selling the first Centrino-certified Linksys access points this week. The model names of the certified APs were not available at press time.
