Mobile software developer JP Mobile Inc. on Thursday will announce the acquisition of Isovia Inc., a Boston-based company that specializes in wireless applications for field services personnel.
“Theyre totally focused on sales force automation,” said Dayakar Puskoor, president and CEO of JP Mobile in Dallas, who said the company plans to integrate Isovias technology into JP Mobiles Surewave Mobile Server products by the second quarter of next year. SureWave Mobile Server provides access to corporate e-mail and other back-end applications from myriad devices.
Besides sales force applications, Isovia brings offline computing capabilities to JP Mobile, meaning field workers can modify corporate data on their devices even when they lose their wireless connections.
So-called disconnected computing has been a recent focus of mobile application platform providers. Iconverse Inc. this week also announced technology, called AdaptiX, which enables constant caching and storing of information so that customer can access it even if they get disconnected.
