In this world of face scanning and other high-tech security technology, it would be easy to discount the traditional, time-proven fingerprint.
That would be wrong, according to Neurotechnologija Ltd. The San Jose, Calif., company this week announced the availability of its VeriFinger fingerprint recognition technology that it said can match up to 10,000 fingerprints per second.
The technology, which can be used for fingerprint identification and verification, is designed for biometric system developers and integrators and integrates with existing security systems. It also works with all scanners, databases and user interfaces, company officials said.
It requires only 512KB of memory, officials said.
It is available now at a cost of less than $100 per user.
