I’m moderating a sponsored webcast tomorrow, June 30 entitled “Smarter Computing: Managed in the Cloud – Virtualization Without Limits.” Not withstanding the somewhat breathless title, I think the core proposition of the webcast is the next step in cloud computing. You can join us at 12:00 p.m. Eastern / 9:00 a.m. Pacific.
For several years, I’ve identified effective virtual infrastructure management as a priority for IT managers. Of course, virtualization isn’t synonymous with cloud computing, but it is a basic building block. And the fundamental issues that we use in “traditional” IT still apply to the cloud: to manage, you must monitor. What I’m hoping to get to in the webcast are the WHAT that IT managers should consider in a managed cloud environment. What’s different, what’s the same. What metrics matter, what changes when infrastructure is provided in the cloud versus on-premise?
While the event has a sponsored speaker, the panel has a breadth of experience that goes beyond a single vendor point of view. Howard Cohen, Senior Resultant at The Tech Channel Partners Results Group Inc. and my colleague Guy Currier, Executive Director, Research at Ziff Davis Enterprise will make sure that the discussion digs out nuggets that make you a smarter person for having spent some time with us.
If you have questions or thoughts on the topic I hope you’ll join us during the session and use the “ask a question” feature to join the discussion!
