The recent release of Netscape 7.2 contains some welcome improvements that will please users who prefer the Netscape browser.
The latest Netscape browser is based on the Mozilla browser suite. The Netscape and Mozilla browsers are nearly identical in many respects.
However, there are differences in Netscape 7.2 that will matter to some users. On the plus side are easy plug-in integration, a nice tool bar that includes useful buttons such as Clear History and number of pop-up windows blocked, and an integrated AOL Instant Messenger.
On the negative side are the number of ads and buttons for Netscape services that get added to your desktop when installed on Windows; the fact that, by default, the browser integrates only with the Netscape search server in the address bar; and an integrated AOL Instant Messenger.
The free Netscape 7.2 browser runs on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows and can be downloaded at home.netscape.com.
