Three-year-old startup Capriza, which turns legacy enterprise apps into fully functioning versions to run on new-gen IT, said Oct. 30 that it has closed a Series C round of funding for $27 million.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Capriza’s previous key investor, Andreessen Horowitz, led the round, which added new participation from Tenaya Capital.
Capriza will use the capital infusion to scale its business operations to handle increased demand for its zero-coding, zero-integration, zero-API enterprise mobile app creation platform.
Capriza has struck a chord with a number of customers and is expanding its base with numerous household name brands, including Brocade, Marvel, McAfee, DIRECTV, VMware, Discovery Communications, TiVo and Olympus, the company said.
“Current enterprise mobile app development approaches are flawed and untenable,” Capriza CEO Yuval Scarlat said. “They’re replete with high risk, exorbitant costs, and time lines that extend in perpetuity. We knew there had to be a better way and that’s precisely why we founded Capriza.”
Capriza was founded by the former executives of Mercury Interactive, including Yuval Scarlet (CEO), Oren Ariel (CTO), Ronnen Armon (VP, R&D), and Amnon Landon (Chairman), who was the 2003 Forbes Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2006, HP acquired Mercury Interactive for $4.5 billion.
Capriza helps companies leverage their investments in existing enterprise software and move into the modern mobile era. Capriza breaks complex business processes into mini-processes; its approach bypasses myriad tools, SDKs, coding, integration, and APIs required in traditional mobile app development.
