John Stanton on Tuesday announced that he is stepping down from his post as CEO of T-Mobile USA Inc.
Stanton, 47, was the founder of T-Mobile predecessor VoiceStream Wireless, of Bellevue, Wash., which was bought by German telecom giant Deutsche Telekom A.G. in 2001. He will remain chairman of T-Mobile.
Robert Dotson, president of T-Mobile USA and board member of T-Mobile International, will take the reins as CEO.
Dotson, 42, joined T-Mobile in 1996 as vice president of marketing. He is credited with launching the companys “Get More” advertising campaign.
Dotson became chief operating officer of T-Mobile USA in 2001 and was named president of the company in 2002.
