Adobe Systems announced two new Flash-based mobile offerings at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Adobe Feb. 11 unveiled Adobe Flash Home, a new mobile application for rich, dynamic home screens, and Adobe Flash Cast 2 technology, the next-generation offline portal solution, to deliver high-impact user experiences and provide instant access to data services, the company said.
The new Adobe Flash Home application combines customizable data-enabled wallpapers and home screens with live data services to provide users with more personalized mobile experiences, the company said. Meanwhile, Flash Cast 2 delivers rich, easy-to-use data services through mobile applications such as news, sports or entertainment channels.
The Flash Cast technology has been licensed by carriers such as NTT DoCoMo, Verizon Wireless and Chunghwa Telecom. Flash Cast enables carriers to tailor mobile experiences based on their subscriber’s profiles and device capabilities and to reach high volume, mass-market handsets, the company said.
Adobe officials said there have been more than 450 million mobile devices powered by Flash. In addition to Flash Home and Flash Cast, Adobe also offers Adobe Flash Lite, an Adobe Flash Player runtime specifically designed for mobile and consumer electronics devices.
