The computer giant, which in late July said it would discontinue selling its HP-branded version of the Apple Computer Inc. music player, has lowered the prices on several of its remaining Apple iPod + HP models on the HPShopping.com site with an instant rebate.
HP added the 15 percent rebate—which allows people to purchase a 512MB iPod Shuffle + HP model for as little as $84, under its regular price of the $99—in an effort to sell the remaining players it has on hand, a company spokesperson said on Thursday.
HP offers Apple iPod Shuffle + HP models with 512MB and 1GB capacities, along with Apple iPod Mini + HP models of 4GB and 6GB capacities and Apple iPod + HP models in 20GB and 30GB sizes.
Aside from having the HP logo, the only noticeable difference between the HP iPods and Apple iPods is that iPod Mini + HP and iPod + HP models cases are gray, versus Apples bright white.
HP offers tattoo kits that allow consumers to print out stick-on covers for iPod models using HP printers.
