Amazon.com is now offering the HTC Droid Incredible at a discounted rate of $149.99, with a two-year service contract.
Verizon Wireless has been looking forward to swift sales for its newest Android handset, and following a successful April 29 launch and debut week, its supplies have run low. Visitors to the Verizon site are being instructed, “Due to high demand, this device will ship by May 14.”
Amazon, however, appears to have a stocked warehouse. Touting the Droid Incredible’s 3.7-inch HD OLED display, 8-megapixel camera with flash, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Android 2.1 operating system, it’s offering free two-day shipping with purchase of a Verizon service plan.

“The Android operating system continues to do very well. … You’re going to hear a lot more about that in the coming months, particularly with an important launch for us coming up shortly, with the HTC Incredible, which the early reviews of have been extremely positive,” Verizon CFO John Killian said during the April 22 announcement of the carrier’s first-quarter 2010 earnings.
Its previous Android-based launch, the Motorola Droid, has proven a winner for the carrier, which sold more of the handsets in the first quarter of 2010 than it did during the holiday-timed fourth-quarter of 2009.
Early feedback on the Incredible, which reviewers called the best Android phone on the market and the best-looking in the Verizon lineup, suggested that even given the Droid’s success, Verizon might fare still better with the Incredible.
Current Analysis analyst Avi Greengart wrote in an April 20 report that the Incredible lives up to its name.
“The Incredible costs the same as Motorola’s Droid, but it provides a better screen, a faster processor and a more refined user experience, thanks to HTC’s latest version of Sense,” Greengart wrote. “The Incredible is likely to have the biggest impact on Google’s nascent foray into retailing.”
With the $50 price cut being offered by Amazon-a jump down from Verizon’s advertised $199 rate with a two-year contract-the HTC Incredible bests the Motorola Droid in still one more department, which may push Incredible sales higher still.
