Lenovo Debuts Latest Tab3 Business Tablets, Plus New Laptops at MWC

Unveiled are three Tab3 business tablets, two Yoga 710 and 510 convertible laptops and an Ideapad Miix 310 2-in-1 detachable tablet.

Lenovo has expanded its line of mobile computers with three new Tab3 business tablet models, two new Yoga convertible laptops and a new Miix 2-in-1 detachable tablet, which were all unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Feb. 21.

The Tab3 10 tablet is aimed at business users, while the Tab3 7 and Tab3 8 tablets are built for consumers and families, according to Lenovo. All three models run on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

The business-oriented Tab3 10 features a 10-inch full-HD IPS display that's covered with scratch- resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a MediaTek 1.3GHz quad-core 64-bit processor, 2GB or 3GB of memory, 32GB or 64GB of on-board storage, and a microSD card slot that can hold up to an additional 64GB of storage. The Tab3 10 includes a 7,000mAh battery, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos sound, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, and is IP52 splash and dust resistant.

The Tab3 10, which comes in Slate Black and weighs about 1.12 pounds, also includes Android for Work software as well as hardware encryption, endpoint protection and policy controls for enterprises. It includes 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

For families, the Lenovo Tab3 7 tablet includes a 7-inch SD IPS display, a MediaTek 1GHz quad-core 64-bit processor, 1GB of memory, 16GB on on-board storage and a microSD slot for expanded storage. The machine also includes a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, Dolby Atmos sound, and a durable, splash-proof coating to protect it from spills in normal use. The machine weighs 0.57 pounds and comes in Slate Black, Polar White, Sakura Pink or Aqua Blue.

The Tab3 7 includes a 3,450mAh battery and features WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Optional 4G LTE connectivity is also available.

The Lenovo Tab3 8 (pictured) features an 8-inch HD IPS display, a MediaTek 1GHz quad-core 64-bit processor, 1GB or 2GB of memory, 16GB of built-in storage, up to 64GB of expanded storage through a microSD slot, dual front-facing speakers with Dolby Atmos audio and a splash-proof coating. The machine, which has a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera and a 4,290mAh battery, weighs about 0.72 pounds and comes in Slate Black or Polar White. It includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as optional 4G LTE connectivity.

Both the Tab3 7 and Tab3 8 also feature safe Web browsing capabilities and restricted access in a family-friendly safe viewing Kid's Mode. 

The Tab3 10 Business tablet will be available in July 2016 at prices and in markets to be announced. The Tab3 7 will be available in June starting at about $130, while the Tab3 8 will also be available in June, starting at about $164.

Yoga Tablets and Ideapad 2-in-1

Also announced at MWC were the Lenovo Yoga 710 and 510 convertible laptops, as well as the Ideapad Miix 310 2-in-1, all of which run on Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system.

The Yoga and Ideapad machines are aimed at consumers, providing flexibility in how they are positioned and used for a variety of tasks. With that in mind, all three models are designed to convert or detach into tablet mode at will. The Yoga machines can be positioned in four distinct ways in laptop, standing, tent or tablet modes.

The Yoga 710 comes in 11-inch or 14-inch versions. The 14-inch version has a full HD IPS display and features Intel processors up to sixth-generation Intel Core i7 CPUs, up to 8GB of DDR4 memory, up to 256GB of solid-state drive (SSD) storage, optional Nvidia GeForce GFX graphics, and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The machine can be purchased in Platinum Silver or Ebony Black.

The 11-inch version of the Yoga 710 includes a full HD display and can be configured with up to 6th generation Intel Core M5 processors, integrated Intel graphics, up to 8GB of LP-DDR3 memory and SSD storage up to 256GB. The Yoga 710 11-inch model also includes Dolby Audio certified virtual surround sound for an immersive entertainment experience.

The Yoga 710 11-inch model starts at about $880, while the 14-inch model starts at about $990. Both will be available in select markets starting in May.

Lenovo's Yoga 510, which is known as the Flex 4 in North America, comes in 14-inch or 15-inch models. Both models can be configured with processors up to 6th Generation Intel Core i7 CPUs with optional AMD Radeon R7 M460 GFX graphics as well as up to 8GB of LPDDR4 memory and up to 1TB hard drives or up to 256GB SSD storage drives. Both machines offer up to 8.5 hours of battery life, giving them extended operation for travelers, as well as Harman Kardon stereo speakers for good sound quality. The 14-inch model comes in Chalk White or Ebony Black, while the 15-inch model comes in Ebony Black.

The Yoga Flex 4 14-inch laptop starts at about $527, while the 15-inch model starts at $770. Both will be available starting in April.

Ideapad Miix 310 Tablet

The new Ideapad Miix 310 tablet is a 2-in-1 machine that features a 10-inch full HD display, an Intel Atom X5 8300 processor, integrated Intel graphics, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and up to 64GB of eMMC storage. The Ideapad Miix 310 also features optional 4G LTE services and a detachable keyboard and runs Windows 10. The machine is available in Platinum Silver.
