The mobile market is transforming the enterprise. Initially, many enterprises with mobility programs focused on supporting mainly BlackBerry devices with email and a handful of other apps, typically tightly controlled by internal IT departments. Some enterprises may have a handful of apps, typically for field services that are made available on mobile devices while others do not have mobile apps at all. This is changing fast as enterprises aim to empower employees with multiple mobile apps and private app stores. They also want to grow their businesses by reaching out to clients with innovative mobile apps. Many enterprises are planning strategies around cost- and resource-effective mobility solutions whose infrastructure and apps are managed in the cloud. Enterprises need to enable employees to securely access enterprise apps on their personal devices. They also want to build mobile apps that securely access enterprise backend data. Effectively building, testing, distributing and managing mobile apps and data for employees and clients are also key. This slide show, based on input from Hewlett-Packard, offers perspective about enterprise mobility and setting an efficient, cost-effective strategy.
