Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile Launch $70 Alcatel Dawn Prepaid Smartphone

Expanding their lineups of low-priced handsets for fans of no-contract mobile phone services, prepaid wireless carriers Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA unveiled the Alcatel Dawn $70 smartphone. The Alcatel Dawn is a 4G/3G LTE-capable smartphone that is the lowest-priced smartphone being offered by both mobile carriers this year. The handset includes email and text messaging capabilities and can be purchased from both companies through their online stores, Boost Mobile retail stores and select independent wireless retailers in the United States. The smartphone features a 4.5-inch touch-screen display, front and rear cameras, and a removable battery, and they can be used as mobile hotpots. The handset, which is also mobile-capable in Mexico, runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Boost Mobile's calling plans start at $35 a month while Virgin's plans start at $30 a month. Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile are divisions of the Sprint Prepaid Group and operate on Sprint's networks.
