Apple staged the latest of its patented people-crush product launches Oct. 22 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco, this time to show a refreshed product lineup plus a new version of the iPad: the iPad Air. (No, it's not called the iPad 5.) The 9.7-inch Retina display iPad Air weighs a mere 1 pound, features an even slimmer design than the already-skinny iPad 4, and runs on a powerful A7 processor—the same one that powers the iPhone 5S. It also features the latest video processor, the new M7 chip. Apple also refreshed its 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros, the iPad Mini and its Mac Pro desktop machines. It announced that its OS X 10.9 Mavericks operating system upgrade is now available for download, and it is offering a lot of free new software to go with it—including iLife, iMovies, Garage Band, and iWork. The company revealed that it now has more than 1 million apps in the App Store, which wasn't a surprise. Here are some highlights of the event, held on a beautiful late-October morning.
