The Same Basic Design

This year is going to be an "S" year for Apple. In other words, instead of launching the iPhone 6, it'll offer up the iPhone 5S. It launches new designs every other year, and the "S" years typically include devices with the same basic design as the prior handset, but with some enhancements tossed in. Expect that to happen this time around.

Apple's iPhone 5S is expected to launch sometime later this year. In fact, the vast majority of reports out there say that the device will be unveiled this summer and could either launch later that season or in early September. Either way, the device is coming. Apple fans are once again closely following any and all rumors that emerge with hints about what it will be like. Like its predecessors, the iPhone 5S is a focus of much curiosity and desire. But as usual with Apple, there is scant real information about what feature might be in an iPhone 5S. Apple hasn't even said that the iPhone 5S exists, let alone what it might offer, and the company has remained tight-lipped on its plans for the future. Not even Apple's recent launches, including a new iPad and the iPad Mini, can deliver too much insight into what it might deliver in the iPhone 5S. As usual, the market is running blind. But that doesn't mean that speculating on Apple's plans is impossible. The company has established a pattern for its iPhone launches, and chances are it won't deviate from its established practice. So here are some of the features we'll likely see in the iPhone 5S.
