Janam Technologies has released its first smartphone-like handheld rugged enterprise computer, the Janam XT2, which can scan barcodes, capture images, perform Web searches, make voice phone calls and more, all from one small and portable device. The XT2 is the latest model in the company's line of rugged business handhelds that can be used in almost any kind of physical environment. The XT2 runs on the Android 5 Lollipop operating system and is aimed at mobile workers in field service, direct store delivery, retail, hospitality, automotive inspections, transportation and logistics, and other businesses. The device has a 5-inch color touch-screen display and is shaped like a smartphone, rather than the pistol-grip styles of previous Janam devices. The handheld, which is ruggedized to meet MIL-STD 810G standards to withstand 5-foot drops on concrete surfaces, is also sealed to meet IP67 standards to provide protection from dust and survive immersion in up to 3 feet of water.
