Janam Technologies' new XM70 rugged mobile enterprise handheld computer can be preloaded with an Android or Microsoft Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating system, and then migrated to the other if a company's technology needs change. By being able to change operating systems on existing hardware, businesses can save money by not having to replace devices if an operating system replacement is warranted. The XM70 is built to scan barcodes for users in a wide range of businesses, including retail, hospitality, health care, transportation, logistics and ticketing. Starting at $1,595, the XM70 includes a 3.5-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) QVGA color touch-screen display, a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 1GB of DDR SDRAM memory and 4GB of NAND internal storage. The ruggedized device is built to survive multiple 4-foot drops onto concrete in a wide range of temperatures, and it is designed to meet IP54 water- and dust-resistance standards.
