Today's modern smartphones pack in plenty of cool features, but they often have hefty price tags to boot. Not everyone needs all the bells and whistles they offer, however. That's why Kyocera built its new DuraXV rugged 3G flip phone, which is an old-style flip handset that is built tough and includes some basic useful features without being a Swiss army knife of mobile devices. The phone, which is being offered for a discounted price of $99.99 with a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless, offers users a well-built handset for a fraction of the cost of 4G-capable smartphones like the Apple iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. The phone includes built-in mobile Web capabilities, VZ Navigator for GPS and voice-command phone navigation to give users a multitude of services. The DuraXV is built for extreme environmental conditions and is certified to meet Military Standard 810G and IP68 to resist dust, shock and extreme temperatures, while also surviving water immersion for up to 30 minutes in up to six feet of water. Plus, the flip phone is built tough to withstand drops and other hazards.
