Lenovo, Chief Marketing Officer David Roman said Oct. 29, during a livestream event from a YouTube performance space in Los Angeles, is "rapidly, radically transforming." In the last six months, he said, Lenovo became the No. 1 PC company in the world. "We sold more PCs than anybody else. And at the same time, we actually sold more smartphones and tablets than we did PCs. This transformation in our business mirrors the change in the way people use technology." What hasn't changed much, he continued, is the tablet. "It has the same physical format today as when it was first introduced. ... The shape hasn't changed. Until now." He went on to introduce the Yoga Tablet, which has the profile of a spiral-bound notebook. Thanks to the spiral (what Lenovo calls the cylinder), the tablet can stand up and tilt back on its own and is easy to hold. But first, Roman made his other big announcement, bringing to the stage Lenovo's newest product engineer, Ashton Kutcher. The tech entrepreneur and actor—who recently played Apple founder Steve Jobs—insisted that he "likes to compete, likes to win and likes to solve problems." He added, "I think there are problems out there now that can be solved with these types of devices."
