When LG debuted its latest premium G5 smartphone at Mobile World Congress on Feb. 21, it unveiled a heavily updated handset that gains a new modular design, an all-metal body and a host of new features aimed at giving users more things to do with their phones. Instead of just having calling, texting and camera capabilities, the G5 can be outfitted with a line of detachable accessories that can also add a 360-degree virtual-reality camera, improved audio, longer battery life and more, all through snap-in modules that bring wider versatility to the device. A virtual reality headset and a rolling robot ball device will also be offered to allow users to create their own VR content for playback to friends and social media sites. The LG G5 features a 5.3-inch quad HD In-Plane Switching (IPS) display, and the handset has an all-metal design, thanks to input from customers who told the company that they wanted to see a device covered with metal, rather than the leather-covered back of the previous LG G4 smartphone. Peruse this eWEEK slide show for more details on the new LG G5 smartphone and its line of accessories.
