A smartpen is a useful tool when you need to capture handwritten notes or drawings so you can get them digitized and onto your smartphone or tablet screen for use in a text document, email or presentation. Many such devices are available today, with the latest being the Neo Smartpen N2 from NeoLAB Convergence. The Neo device allows users to write on a special pad of paper and then use the pen to capture their handwritten words or drawings using an app. As the words and images are being drawn, they are instantly displayed on a smartphone or tablet screen. The accompanying app for Android or iOS also allows users to then select a transcription function in one of 15 different languages so that the handwritten text is instantly converted into text that can be used in a text document. Android users must make corrections to any transcription errors by editing a saved text file, while iOS users can make corrections on their device screen. The N2 retails for $169 and is available on Please peruse this slide show for full specifications and more details about the Neo N2.
