Quad HD Display Powers Down to Save the Battery

The HP convertible, which sports a Quad HD (2,560 by 1,440) display, features built-in Panel Self Refresh (PSR) technology, which means images on the screen are held in place, allowing sections of the PC to shut down when nothing on the screen is moving. This helps reduce the battery drain that a bright display can cause. In addition, the touch-panel is optically bonded to the display, which is designed to increase brightness and pull the pixels up to the surface of the display.

At this week's Mobile World Congress convention in Barcelona, Spain, Sony released its Xperia Z4 tablet and HP unveiled its Spectre x360 convertible notebook—both are versatile and provide stunning displays and almost impossibly thin profiles. The Sony Xperia Z4 continues the company's dedicated, if unheralded, progression toward powerful, versatile, thin and waterproof portable devices. Running Android 5.0 Lollipop and featuring Live Color LED technology for enhanced screen brightness and digital noise cancelling technology for better sound, the tablet is designed to deliver WiFi at twice the speed of previous WiFi products, thanks to WiFi MIMO support, and comes packed with a Cat 6 LTE/4G modem. For HP, the geared hinge design allows the Spectre x360 convertible notebook to maintain the same thin profile in tablet mode that it has when closed. To accommodate multiple devices and accessories, the Spectre x360 has three USB 3.0 ports and comes with the company's USB Sleep and Charge, which allows customers to use the convertible to charge their devices on the go even when in sleep mode. Here are key features of the Sony Xperia Z4 and the HP Spectre x360.
