Panasonic has expanded its Toughpad handheld tablet line with a pair of new Toughpad FZ series devices that offer enterprises the option of Android or Windows 10 operating systems on ruggedized, water-resistant machines that are built for business users. Introduced at Mobile World Congress on Feb. 22, both Toughpad FZ devices feature 4.7-inch HD, 1,280-by-720 touch-screen displays, with the N1 model running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, while the Toughpad FZ-F1 runs on Microsoft Windows 10 Embedded. The displays on both handhelds are viewable in full daylight and can be operated with gloves or in the rain with wet fingers, which can be automatically sensed by the handhelds. Both devices are also equipped with rear-mounted combination 1D and 2D barcode scanners to read barcodes in warehouses, vehicles, production floors or anywhere else a handheld scanner is required. Optional stylus pens, magnetic stripe readers, holster belts, charging docks and other accessories are also available. For more details, peruse the Panasonic ToughPad FZ series tablets in this eWEEK slide show.
