RuggON has unveiled its new PM-311B ruggedized tablet computer for law enforcement officers. The new device offers a wide array of components, features and capabilities designed to make it easier for police officers to do their jobs under tough environmental conditions. The PM-311B enables officers to accurately collect fingerprints from suspects and features a 7-inch touch-screen display, a tough Corning Gorilla Glass display cover and a screen that can be easily read, even in bright sunlight. The machines, which will be available in the United States in mid-August, will retail for $1,549 to $2,322, depending on their configurations. The tablets can be operated in conditions that include water, dirt, dust, vibration, heat, cold and other hazards. The devices include a line of optional snap-on modules, such as a machine-readable-zone reader that can read up to three lines of MRZ data so it can capture, identify, process and match advanced passport, visa, and ID-card data, according to RuggON. Peruse this eWEEK slide show for more details on the RuggON PM-311B tablet.
