Education is one more market in which Samsung and Apple are aggressively competing. Samsung last year had considerable success with Chromebooks. The company entered the market and shot to the No. 2 market-share position. Now, with the Galaxy Tab 4 Education, Samsung aims to take on the iPad. A modified version of Samsung's 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab and available only to educators, the new tablet has been ruggedized with Gorilla Glass and ships with a protective, easy-grip black rubber case. The Tab 4 Education includes Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology for fast, easy provisioning; settings and content can be passed from one tablet to another by pressing them together. The tablet also integrates with Google Play for Education, an app store where educators can search by grade level, subject, curriculum and categories within a curriculum, as well as rate apps and lead feedback for their peers. Samsung will also make Samsung School, the interactive classroom management technology that became popular with its Chromebooks, available on the Tab 4 Education. "School Solution addresses ease of use, ease of support and does a great job of helping teachers get tablets ready for students," said Jen Langan, director of mobility product marketing for Samsung.
