Samsung's Galaxy S7 Active: A Rugged Smartphone for Tough Workplaces

Samsung's new Galaxy S7 Active is a ruggedized version of its top-of-the-line Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones that hit the market back in March. The S7 Active is aimed at customers who work in demanding environments and who need a phone that can withstand drops on concrete as well as wet or dusty conditions and other hazards that would doom a normal handset. The S7 Active is available immediately, exclusively through AT&T. The handset follows the ruggedized Galaxy S6 Active that launched in mid-2015 but gains a bevy of improvements taken from the latest flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones. The Galaxy S7 Active gets a shatter-resistant version of the water-resistant 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD touch-screen display that is found on the standard Galaxy S7 handset, while also meeting IP68 certification to withstand water exposure of up to 5 feet for 30 minutes. The phone also meets MIL-STD-810G specifications for dirt, dust, temperature, shock and salt resistance. Peruse this eWEEK slide show for more information on the Galaxy S7 Active smartphone.
