Aimed at fleet drivers and fleet managers who want to better manage their delivery operations, TomTom has unveiled its new TomTom Bridge Connected portable device, which includes navigation, select Android apps, email and more in a tabletlike form factor that is built to stand up to tough punishment on the road. The TomTom Bridge Connected device features a 7-inch touch-screen display, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 5-megapixel camera, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, according to the company. TomTom Bridge Connected also includes a lifetime subscription to TomTom Maps and TomTom Traffic services, and is expected to be available later in September starting at $649. It also can be used by taxi companies, car rental companies and other vehicle-centric businesses to manage their fleets. The device is not directly compatible with Google Play, but companies can add their own designated apps to it for use by their employees.
