Toshiba Refreshes Chromebook 2 Models With More Power, Battery Life

Toshiba's Chromebook 2 laptops are getting a refresh with the latest fifth-generation Intel Core i3 and Celeron processors, plus several other key improvements meant to give users increased performance and value. The new Intel processors will replace the fourth-generation Intel processors of previous versions, providing faster compute speeds and improved multitasking. Also new on the Chromebook 2 are LED backlit keyboards for easier use in dark places as well as displays with high resolution. The new machines, which will be available later in October, will include a 13.3-inch diagonal Full HD (1,920-by-1,080) IPS display that can be read at an angle, up to 4GB of RAM, front-facing stereo speakers from Skullcandy, dual array microphones and an HD Webcam. The Chromebook 2 will offer an estimated 8.5-hour battery life, measures 12 inches across and weighs 2.9 pounds.
