Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi just introduced its latest smartphone and tablet, the Redmi Note 3 and the Mi Pad 2, featuring full metal bodies for the first time, replacing plastics used in earlier versions. The third-generation Redmi Note 3 smartphone and the Mi Pad 2 tablet are aimed at the Chinese market, but their wide feature sets and low prices—$140 to $172 for the phone and $156 to $203 for the tablet—would certainly make them attractive in other markets as Xiaomi continues to expand its footprint around the world. The Redmi Note 3 handset features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Helio X10 MediaTek processor, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and dual 4G SIM slots. The 4G capable phone also has a fingerprint sensor for security and authentication. The Mi Pad 2 tablet has a 7.9-inch high-resolution display, a quad-core Intel Atom processor, 2GB of memory, Intel graphics, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 6,190mAh battery.
