HP, Cisco Networking Gear Work Together in New Private Cloud Data Center
B.G. Naran Leads Data Center Tour
B.G. Naran, general manager of operations for DAS, gives tech reporters and bloggers a tour of its new data center in Atlanta. The data center features HP servers, storage and networking equipment, but also a few pieces of equipment from HP’s networking rival Cisco Systems.
Hewlett-Packard gave tech reporters and bloggers a tour Sept. 6 of a new data center it developed for Diversified Agency Services (DAS), a marketing services firm, in Atlanta. DAS is part of Omnicon, the parent company of about 165 marketing, advertising and public relations agencies. While HP networking equipment abounds in the new data center, it also recommended the installation of some equipment from rival Cisco Systems in a few instances. DAS executives said HP acknowledged that some existing Cisco switches should stay where they are because some Cisco routers are more robust than HP’s and because HP doesn’t yet have a firewall product on the market.
