Data Center Going Online in October

Visitors tour a new data center developed by HP in Atlanta for Diversified Agency Services, a unit of Omnicon. The data center, scheduled to go online Oct. 19, is similar to one DAS already operates in Phoenix, while a third facility is under construction in London.

Hewlett-Packard gave tech reporters and bloggers a tour Sept. 6 of a new data center it developed for Diversified Agency Services (DAS), a marketing services firm, in Atlanta. DAS is part of Omnicon, the parent company of about 165 marketing, advertising and public relations agencies. While HP networking equipment abounds in the new data center, it also recommended the installation of some equipment from rival Cisco Systems in a few instances. DAS executives said HP acknowledged that some existing Cisco switches should stay where they are because some Cisco routers are more robust than HP’s and because HP doesn’t yet have a firewall product on the market.
