Dell Computer Corp. on Friday said that thanks to stronger than expected consumer sales, its fourth-quarter earnings will come in higher than it had projected.
Although its quarter doesnt end until Feb. 1, the computer maker issued the statement raising its projected revenue to $8 billion, up from the previously forecasted $7.6 billion. The Round Rock, Texas, company also raised its earnings-per-share projection a penny to 17 cents per share.
The company will fully detail its quarterly results Feb. 14.
Dell credited its improving financial situation to consumer sales, which will achieve a sequential increase in product shipments of about 50 percent, and revenue growth from the third quarter of about 40 percent.
