Apple's New iMacs: 10 Reasons You Should Buy Them
It's Thin … Really, Really Thin
It's shocking just how thin the iMac is. According to Apple, at its edge, the device is just 5mm thin. But what does "edge" mean? Based on the images, it appears Apple is measuring the device's bezel around the display. Behind that, it's a bit thicker. Still, the iMac is easily the thinnest desktop you'll find on the market.
Apple plans to launch its new iMac line in November. The 21.5-inch model will launch later this month, and will be followed by the 27-inch version, which will hit store shelves in December. According to the company, the models will likely be in short supply outside the United States through the end of the year, due to some trouble in China producing the new computers. It's easy to see why. The iMac is the thinnest computer Apple has ever launched, measuring just 5mm at its edge. The device was produced by melding aluminum together, making it impossible to open and very difficult to build. Even though several models came before it, the latest-generation iMac is an entirely new product. The iMac line has been plagued with nominal upgrades over the years, but the latest model is a major departure from those that have come before it. And those who were on the fence about which desktop to buy now have their choice. Don't believe it? Flip through the following slides to find out why Apple's new iMacs are must-haves for anyone looking to buy a new desktop.
