Samsung once again had a huge year at the Consumer Electronics Show. The company showed off a new Ultra HD television with quadruple the resolution of current high-end sets. Samsung also unveiled an OLED TV and its plans for the future of mobile and home entertainment. The company had a great show.
With the Consumer Electronics Show now drawing to a close, the best and worst products and vendors are starting to reveal themselves. As in previous years, the world's biggest technology trade show has been a place for many companies not only to exhibit what will be the hottest products for the current year, but to show off the most advanced technologies that will find their way into new products for the next several years. But CES has also been the place where you can find companies that have failed to innovate and are boring today's consumers and enterprise buyers with rapidly aging technology. Like so many other things in the technology industry, CES has proven to be a story of the haves and have-nots. But it's the grouping of "haves" that deserve the focus today. At the show, several companies showed off products that actually excited attendees. Better yet, the companies were able to reassure blasé technology lovers who wondered if a company other than Apple would succeed in exhibiting really innovative products.
