Hewlett-Packard, on the same day it updated its portfolio of business notebooks, introduced new enterprise scanners and single- and multi-function printers that increase office productivity and make it simple for even mobile workers and contractors to print—without the hassle of installing a driver or app—directly from a smartphone or tablet. Using P2P, wireless direct technology, a user doesn't have to deal with getting credentials to sign on to a wireless network. She can log in, see the printer listed with her networks, choose it and print. For devices with near-field communication (NFC) technology, there's the option to tap to connect and then print. (An NFC module comes included in the new JetDirect 2800w, but can also be purchased as an add-on for older printers.) The new printers boast features like the ability to save documents to the cloud, include keyboards for correcting or updating scanned documents, streamline paper or digital processes and, certainly, put an end to the days of only one person in the office understanding how to change the ink.
