Lenovo Yoga Home 900 Offers Full Multi-touch Functionality

Lenovo's Yoga Home 900 comes with a 27-inch full-HD display. But perhaps more importantly to the average consumer seeking greater usability, the display doubles as a touch-screen. Users can get the full Windows experience with both their mouse and keyboard or their fingers; this enhances the computer's usability.

Lenovo Yoga 900 Delivers High-End Features

The Lenovo Yoga 900 may be a hybrid, but it has some impressive specifications. The device comes with up to Intel's sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor and a quad-HD In-Plane Switching (IPS) display measuring 13.3 inches. The hybrid also includes up to nine hours of battery life and JBL stereo speakers, which have been widely viewed as among the better options on the market. The Yoga 900 is, by nearly all measures, a high-end hybrid.

Arguably the most important feature in the Yoga Home 900—and the feature that is central to the Yoga branding—is the ability to use the screen as both a tablet-like device as well as a desktop. So, if a user doesn't want to have the traditional desktop experience and would rather tap around the Web as with a tablet, they can do it. They should be aware, though, that it's an awfully big tablet. The Yoga's screen measures 27 inches diagonally.

Lenovo Yoga 900 Works Best as a Convertible Notebook-Laptop

One of the nice things about the Yoga 900 is that it delivers the full "Yoga" convertible experience that consumers and enterprise customers want. While it can be used as a notebook or a tablet, it has two other "modes." The first is called Tent, which will let users watch videos. The convertible can also get into Stand mode for more convenient access to apps and data. That flexibility is critical to the Yoga 900's chances of success.

Lenovo Yoga Home 900 Runs the Windows 10 Home Edition

No surprise here, but Lenovo has bundled Windows 10 with its new computer. However, enterprise users should be aware that the computer ships with Windows 10 Home, which lacks some of the professional and more appealing features companies would find in Windows 10 Pro. Windows 10 Home is fine for many uses, but it's not ideal for every customer type.

One of the more important components in any hybrid is its portability. In that respect, the Yoga 900 delivers. The device is 14.9mm thick and weighs just 2.8 pounds. Lenovo says that the Yoga 900 will be easy to carry around and help users get work done, and there's no reason to suggest it may be wrong.

Battery Life Isn't the Yoga Home 900 Strong Point

While the Lenovo Yoga Home 900 is designed to be a desktop first, its tablet functionality means it must rely on a battery. However, the battery it comes with is rather unappealing. According to the company, customers will get only three hours of battery life with the Yoga Home 900. That's a frustratingly low amount of battery power for those who would rather use the device as a tablet.

Lenovo Yoga 900 Delivers Solid Battery Life

With a hybrid, battery life is one of the most important features. Luckily, the Yoga 900 does not disappoint. The device comes with nine hours of battery life during video playback. More balanced usage, which includes Web browsing and other activities, will likely push that figure up considerably. Even with its high-end specs, the Yoga 900 has solid battery life.

Lenovo Yoga Home 900 Prices Start at $1,549

It's hard to judge the value of a computer that can deliver so many different experiences, but it appears that the Yoga Home 900 has a great price starting at $1,549 for the base model. But prices go up precipitously for those who want higher-end features. Still, for all that it does, the Yoga Home 900 seems like a solid deal. This model will be available by the end of October.

While the Lenovo Yoga Home is nicely affordable for what customers get, some may argue that the Yoga 900 hybrid is a bit more expensive. The device, after all, starts at $1,199 for the base model that competes with considerably less expensive offerings from companies like Dell. That said, the fully loaded Yoga 900 is available for just $1,399, so the price doesn't necessarily skyrocket when customers seek the best experience. The Yoga 900 is available now.

Lenovo unveiled new Yoga devices designed to deliver the kind of flexibility and portability that have made the product line so successful over the past several years. On Oct. 19, Lenovo launched the Yoga Home 900, a convertible all-in-one desktop, as well as the Yoga 900, a convertible laptop. Both devices offer solid specifications and make good on the Yoga brand's promise of offering the flexibility people want in their computers. The Yoga Home 900 comes with a 27-inch HD screen that allows users to disconnect the all-in-one from the keyboard and mouse and use it as a large-scale tabletop tablet. The Yoga 900, meanwhile, continues in the Yoga tradition of what Lenovo calls "360-degree computing" and offers the latest-generation Intel Core processor to deliver the performance that business users are seeking. However, both devices are arguably among the best convertible laptops/tablets in the market and could appeal to both consumers and enterprise customers. Read on to learn more about the latest devices in Lenovo's Yoga line and why the convertible computers could find a place at home or in the office.
