Frequent Fliers No Longer in the 'Clear'
Clear, the security screening service for frequent airline travelers, is now defunct. The service that allowed travelers expedited security screenings at major airports discontinued operations June 22 after failing to secure new financing terms with its creditors, according to a post on its Web site.
The Clear program collected copious amounts of information about subscribers, part of the trade off for being able to race through airport security. That data, including Social Security numbers, addresses, employer and other information, remains in the possession of Verfied Identity Pass Inc., Clear's parent company.
