Broadening the reach of its fixed-content archiving technology to a midtier enterprise audience, EMC is set to launch a four-node EMC Centera configuration.

Available this month from EMC and its partners, the four-node Centera box provides 2.2TB of usable storage capacity and offers a base list price that is 35 percent cheaper than the previous minimum eight-node Centera configuration, said EMC officials.

EMC is enabling midtier users to rack-mount the box in EMC cabinets or its storage racks to help maximize limited floor space in shared-server and storage environments.

In addition, EMC Express Solutions for Archiving and Express Solutions for E-Mail will be bundled with the Centera four-node configuration.
