Network Appliance Teams with QLogic for Enterprise-Class Switches
Network Appliance announced the availability March 20 of the QLogic SANbox 9000 Core and SANbox 5600 Stackable Series of switches.
Combined with NetApp FAS systems and QLogic host bus adapters, these newly supported switches enable customers to maintain application performance and uptime, and cost-effectively scale their networks, NetApp officials said.
"QLogic is dedicated to providing its customers and partners with the best solutions for managing storage networks," said Jesse Parker, vice president and general manager, QLogic Switch Products Group, in a statement.
"Our SANbox series of products have set the standard for quality, reliability, and performance in the industry. We are thrilled to be working with NetApp to provide their customers with a unique end-to-end 4Gb storage solution that allows them to cost-effectively scale and keep up with the pace of growing business."
The SANbox 9000 is a new class of core switch that company officials contend takes less rack space, power, and cooling than any director switch available today, while the SANbox 5600 Series is a stackable switch featuring high performance 4Gb and 10Gb Fibre Channel ports.
The availability of both coupled with QLogic HBAs gives NetApp customers a complete storage area network solution that is easy to deploy and fully interoperable, officials said.
"The QLogic SANbox switches provide our customers with powerful technologies to improve the performance of their SAN infrastructures," said Patrick Rogers, Network Appliances vice president of Products and Partners, in a statement.
"Together with QLogic, we are helping drive the 4Gb Fibre Channel market and provide enterprises with storage solutions that simplify data management, improve productivity, and lower cost of ownership."
