Sun Not Finished with Executive Musical Chairs
The executive trickle-down effectwhich started with Jonathan Schwartz replacing Scott McNealy as CEO in Aprilis delving deeper into Sun Microsystems, which said June 29 that it has reconfigured its storage division and named a new vice president to run the storage marketing operation.
The Santa Clara, Calif., company has consolidated its tape, disk, software, storage marketing and partner-management business units and asked its Tape Management Group vice president, Nigel Dessau, to take charge as the new vice president of storage marketing and business operations.
Sun is making the moves "to further align the storage group with Suns other business unitsservers, software, sales and services," said spokesperson Michelle Parkinson.
Dessau is a former chief marketing officer at Denver-based StorageTekwhich Sun acquired last yearand had been with IBM for 19 years prior to that. He replaces James Whitemore, who is leaving Sun.
After Schwartz became CEO, he replaced former Sun Executive Vice President of Data Management Group Mark Canepa with David Yen, who had been EVP of Suns Scalable Systems Group. Dessau will report to Anil Gadre, Suns CMO, and Yen in the new structure.
