Veritas Software Corp. on Tuesday released its Veritas Storage Extension, a tool that connects several EMC Corp. storage systems with Veritas Indepth database application performance-management software.
According to Mountain View, Calif.-based Veritas, the extension lets Indepth versions for Oracle and SQL Server APM software tune performance metrics from EMC Symmetrix and CLARiiON storage arrays. The Veritas Indepth for DB2 UDB software can handle performance data from EMC Symmetrix storage arrays, the company said.
“With Veritas Storage Extension and other components of the Veritas i3 [application performance management] software, IT managers will be able to optimize applications by rapidly detecting, diagnosing and enabling correction of performance problems by monitoring every transaction in real-time, from the end-user through the storage array,” said Robert Maness, senior director of product marketing, in a statement.
“Veritas Storage Extension software provides another core building block designed to help companies manage the performance, capacity and reliability of their IT operations to meet the changing demands of the organization—the fundamental promise of utility computing,” Maness continued.
The company is aiming this software as a replacement for EMCs ControlCenter Database Tuner software, which is based on technology from Precise Software Solutions Ltd., a company that Veritas purchased in June.
