California Seeks to Put Up Largest DNA Database in Nation

California law enforcement is backing a ballot proposal that would give them the go-ahead to operate the largest DNA database in the country. Civil libertarians say the database would spurn constitutional protections against unreasonable search and seizure, while public defenders say it would drain the states already depleted coffers.
