Shifting its product set and focus from database auditing toward enterprise security monitoring and assessment, Lumigent Technologies recently announced the availability of Lumigent Vulnerability Manager (VM) DB 3.0 as the centerpiece of its new Information Security Management (ISM) Suite.
Currently available for $5,000 per database server, Lumigent VM DB 3.0 policy-based software provides a baseline assessment of any security vulnerabilities associated with data or applications related to databases and the OS (operating system). Once current-state analysis is achieved, the product enables customers to pinpoint, manage, and correct vulnerabilities before any potential threats can do harm within an application architecture, said officials of Acton, Mass.-based Lumigent Technologies Inc.
For example, Lumigent VM DB 3.0 will recognize an Oracle Corp. application infrastructure should feature an OS, Web server, application server, application security model and the RDBMS. The context-based product then checks off each categorized component and what its state should be within the application environment to ensure its role and consistency are at desired levels. Once the measurement is achieved, threat identification, mitigation and remediation can occur.
Technology featured within Lumigent VM DB 3.0 was absorbed by the company as part of its acquisition of nTier Corp. in June. NTiers flagship product was capable of consolidating all aspects of database and application security within a central repository. Lumigent VM DB 3.0 works in tandem with database products from Oracle, Microsoft Corp. and Sybase Inc.
Lumigents Information Security Management Suite also features Lumigent Audit DB, an existing Lumigent database auditing tool formerly called Integra. New VM DB options purchased that can be outside of the ISM suite are designed to protect ERP applications infrastructures including Oracle 11i and SAP Business Suite.
