Oracle Database 11g Ready for Windows
For Oracle Database 11g, it was Linux first, then the worldor at least Microsoft Windows.
The software giant, based in Redwood Shores, Calif., has released the latest version of its database generally available on Windows. The release includes new Windows-specific features such as database backup and recovery using Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service, as well as enhancements in Active Directory and Kerberos integration, company officials said.
"Oracle is committed to providing choice, and we continue to deliver on that promise with the release of Oracle Database 11g on Windows," said Andy Mendelsohn, senior vice president of database server technologies at Oracle, in a statement.
"Optimized for Windows, Oracle Database 11g helps growing businesses address their increasing data management demands with unrivaled price/performance and scalability."
Oracle first released 11g for Linux in August.
