Dell has introduced three new all-in-one (AiO) PCs featuring the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processors, minimized footprints with one-cord designs and what it€™s calling €œtimeless€ aesthetics that it hopes will continue to appeal to users over the long term in both office and home environments.

The XPS One 27 is both the highest-end and largest AiO that Dell has ever made. It features a 27-inch display with a Full Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels€”the equivalent of four times the clarity of a 720p HDTV. Dell is expecting an audience including photographers and video editors, whether professional or hobbyists, for the One 27, and to support such activities it has included Intel third-generation quad-core processors with Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

The XPS One 27 also offers Intel HD 400 graphics, with optional Nvidia GeForge GT 640M with 2GB of DDR5; 4GB of standard memory that€™s configurable up to 16GB, with 2 DIMM (dual in-line memory module) slots; the option of a 2TB 3.5-inch 7200RPM hard drive or an optional HDD plus a 32GB mSATA SSD with Intel Smart Response Technology; a slot-loading DVD drive with optional Blu-Ray disc combo drive; and a full HD Webcam with dual digital microphone array for video calls.

With a new stand design and metallic silver housing that Dell expects will make a nice addition to any living room, there€™s also an optional TV tuner, as well as Waves MaxxAudio 4 and Infinity speakers with integrated 7.1 surround sound.

Dell€™s two new Inspiron models, the One 23 and One 20, are family PCs€”AiOs for kitchen counters and living room desks, again with clean, one-cord designs and wireless keyboards and mice that slide under the displays to minimize clutter.

The One 23 features a 23-inch, full HD 1920 by 1080 WLED display and up to a third-generation Intel Core i7 processor, though second-generation Core i3 and i5 processors are also options.

The One 23 comes standard with Intel HD 4000 graphics, though a 1GB DDR3 AMD Radeon HD 7650A is optional. Memory can be configured up to 8GB of DD3 memory and 2 DIMM slots, and up to a 2TB 3.5-inch 7200RPM hard drive. There€™s a slot-loading DVD drive with optional Blu-Ray disc combo drive, and HD Webcam with dual digital microphone array for video calls, plus HD audio with Waves MaxxAudio 3.

On the smaller One 20, expect a 20-inch HD 1600 by 900 WLED display; 2nd-generation Intel processor options; DDR3 memory up to 6GB, with 2 DIMM slots; and an up to 1TB 3.5-inch 7200RPM hard drive. There€™s the option of a Blu-Ray disc reader drive and, like its larger sibling, it comes with MaxxAudio 3, an HD Webcam, Microsoft Windows 7 Home premium and multiple connectivity options.

€œAs part of the reimagining of our entire XPS and Inspiron portfolio, we are likewise reimagining our all-in-ones as stunning systems that are the centerpieces of any room,€ Sam Burd, Dell€™s vice president and general manager of product development, said in a May 29 statement.

In the United States, Dell is the second-ranking PC maker, shipping 3.5 million units during the first quarter of 2012€”a dip of 3.6 percent year over year€”compared to market leader Hewlett-Packard€™s 4.5 million. Globally, Dell is now in the No. 3 spot, having fallen behind fast-rising Lenovo, which, with 28.1 percent growth during the quarter, is coming faster on the heels of HP, which managed a 3.5 percent uptick, according to research firm Gartner.

Gartner analysts suggested that Dell€™s shipments were €œmainly due to low-end consumer systems, to which Dell gave low priority.€

With Burd calling Dell€™s new AiOs €œcompelling€ options and €œphenomenal values,€ and with several announcements of new Dell business lineups to come in the following weeks, Dell appears hard at work, defending its share of a market in flux.

All three AiOs are now available in Asia and will begin shipping to the United States and other countries, says Dell, €œin the coming weeks.€ The XPS One 27 will start at $1,399; the Inspiron One 23 at $749; and the Inspiron One 20 at $529.
