IBM, Intentia Team Up on Integration
As part of its strategy to reach the small and mid-sized market with integrated offerings, IBM and Intentia on Tuesday announced a combined hardware and software offering designed to reduce the cost of collaborative e-business.
The IBM eServer iSeries for Intentia is an offering that enables companies to quickly integrate and collaborate with vendors, suppliers and re-sellers.
Intentia, of Sweden, provides collaborative software.
The new offering includes an IBM configured i270 server, IBM WebSphere Internet infrastructure software and Intentias Movex eBusiness 4.1 software.
The eServer iSeries supports Linux, Java, Windows and Unix applications and has the ability to run multiple virtual servers on a single system, said IBM officials.
Intentia isnt new to IBM. The companys alliance with IBM, of Armonk, N.Y., spans more than 15 years and Intentias Movex Collaboration Applications software is powered by WebSphere, IBMs middleware that provides extensions to Intentias Movex NexGen applications.
Intentias collaborative apps are arranged in six different groups, including Enterprise Management, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Performance Measurement, Value Chain Collaboration and e-Business.
Though it seems to have little name recognition in U.S. circles, Intentia has more than 3,400 customers worldwide and focuses on three specific verticals: manufacturing, maintenance and distribution.
This is the third such announcement IBM has made. The company has also announced eServer iSeries offerings with J.D. Edwards & Company and Information Business Systems Inc.
The eServer iSeries for Intentia is available now.
